Saudis Ban Number Plates

It seems the Saudi authorities have got wise to the fact that some of the letters in the Arabic alphabet are also found in the Latin alphabet, so making it possible to create English words within their registration plate system.... And - human nature being what it is - guess what type of word everyone seems to want....?

Mycarcheck.com

In an earlier blog I asked if anyone knew if the registration 'BA51ARD' had escaped the DVLA net.
Well since then I've found an excellent tool....!
Go to mycarcheck.com and type in any number plate that you've ever wondered about..
It can't tell you who owns it, obviously, but does tell you if it's out there and what vehicle it's on...
Try your own plate as a tester.
Very clever stuff.
Wish I'd thought of it.

Plate release dates explained

If your attention span's anything like mine (stoned goldfish) then I figure you probably wouldn't appreciate being linked to a newspaper article the size of the Old Testament droning on about reg plate release dates

Click Here! to read a short article about UK plate issue dates.
It's an old column but explains the whole caper from '63 to present day in 3 paragraphs.

Good job.

Breaking News.....! 12:37pm (15/2/2009)

ATTENTION ALL;

STANS = 51ANS
SIDHU = 51DHU
SIKHA = 51KHA
SIKKA = 51KKA
SIMON = 51MON
&
SINGH = 51NGH

I've just this minute received an email from the DVLA saying they've made available all the above personalized number plates with immediate effect.
There's 2544 of'em in total and the prices seem to be ranging from £1700 to 3K.

Get in there fast folks, before the sharks start circling....!

"Boring ba57ards ban plates"

The DVLA obviously have to try and spot these types of number plates before they reach the general sales website but I don't think it's for the reasons set out in this article
(Click Here!).
I could be wrong but I reckon there'd be a queue of people a mile long willing (and able) to part with 100K+ for this one, so my guess is you'll be hearing about this number plate and others like it when they are fetching record prices at future DVLA auctions.

P.S; Just for my curiosity, does anyone know if 'BA51ARD' managed to slip the DVLA net?
And if so, who's got it?
(Answers in the comments)

Read this....! It's important....!

This article is a warning about what can happen to your cherished number plate if your vehicle is stolen or written off.
Read It! or you may regret it......

100K for F9CKA....? Dream on, mate.

Hmmm......I just typed FOCKA in to Regfinder.net and it came back with 10 DVLA available plates with prices ranging from £245 to £490.
He might get lucky I suppose.

( I also typed in FUCKA and it came back with a BLINDER!
But I'm afraid you're gonna have to pay for that info... Set 'Your Vehicle's Age' to '13 reg' )
